Dog Walks in Pinkneys Green

The semi-rural historical village near Maidenhead was established back in the 1700’s and has since become a popular place to live.

Whilst the village contains very few businesses, there are a few great spots for some much great dog walking! Here are our 3 favourite dog walks near The Golden Ball, rated by us! Remember, if you build up an appetite from all your substantial walking, we offer a real hearty pub lunch, and of course, we’re always dog friendly & have treats for your furry friend too.

The Golden Route
Pinkey’s Green

This circular route begins and ends at the Golden Ball pub, providing the perfect place to end your stroll. Enjoy the meander through tall hay meadows revealing a variety of rich grasses, flowers, and buzzing insects that have made their home in this expanse of open grassland. Plenty of space to dogs to roam free and stretch their fluffy legs.

Walking duration: 1 hour and 15 mins
Starting Point: The Golden Ball
Terrain: Flat with a little incline in places
Distance: 3.9 miles
What’s There: plenty of undisturbed fields for great walking

The Meadow Walk
Maidenhead Commons
Rating: 5 Stars

The grasses in these open, unfenced meadows are left to grow tall all summer long so you’ll find a wealth of wildflowers. From delicate yellow cowslips to bright white daisies with specks of colour for as far as the eye can see. A delightful walk for dogs and even nicer for owners with plenty of natural beauty to see. It is worth noting dogs need to be kept on leads around wild stock.

Walking Duration: 2 hours
Starting Point: Maidenhead Common
Terrain: Moderate with a mixture of uneven ground surfaces
Distance: 4 miles circuit
What’s There: Car parking, picnic areas & long meadows.

Winter Hill
Cookham Commons
Rating: 5 Stars

Winter Hill offers arguably some of the most breath-taking views of the river Thames and nearby Cock Marsh. With long grass meadows and poppy fields to company paths in and around the woodland areas, there is more than enough opportunity to get in a fantastic walk for all the family.

Feeling Peckish?

If you decide you’ve had enough walking for one day and need a refreshing beverage or a jolly-good heart-warming meal, pop into The Golden Ball, with your fury friend. For friendly faces, a beer garden for sunny days, and enough space for you and all your family, The Golden Ball is the perfect place to unwind. The restaurant offers a range of dishes, from the Winter Ploughman’s sharing board to a remake of the nation’s favourite dish, Ale-battered haddock with chunky chips. Oh, and don’t forget we’re experts in the Great British Institution that is the might Sunday Roast.
